On your travels throughout the archipelago you cannot avoid seeing the rubbish collecting on the streets, in the gutters and rivers. At one time [during the Soeharto era] the streets were swept constantly, and, the rivers cleaned by inmates of the various penitentiaries.

It has been a long time since I set foot on Komodo Island and really must get back there soon as it is a fantastic experience. For those people exploring East Nusa Tenggara, the island of Komodo and its carnivorous residents is a definite ‘must visit’ place.

Taman Sari Royal Water Park in Yogyakarta is a spectacular place to visit and a must-see on your itinerary when visiting the beautiful city. Located only a ten minute walk south-west of the Sultan’s Palace, it is steeped in history.

If you have ever walked through the jungles of Java or Sumatra, or in the lush areas of Bali’s northern regions, then you would know of the richness in bird life. Generally, when I am trekking through any isolated area then I carry my small but powerful binoculars.
