Banten Lama is an historical city and is now part of the Serang Regency located north of the city of Serang and was once the capital of the Indonesian Sultanate of Banten. Like so many historical sites in Indonesia, hawkers and traders can become a pest.

It’s a sad fact but not many tourists or travellers go to Madura Island on their visits to Java, and yet, it is one of the most interesting islands in the archipelago. Apart from the historical viewpoint, the bull races there are spectacular and the people, ever friendly.
