Indonesia has lost one of the finest singer/songwriters the country has ever known. Top singer Chrisye died yesterday after suffering prolonged lung cancer. I was saddened by this creator’s loss. I have numerous CD’s of his and last night spent the time reflecting on his genius.
Metro TV station reported that Chrisye, 56, died at 4:00 a.m. yesterday at his house in Cipete, South Jakarta after having respiratory problem at night. Chrisye, who has launched 28 music albums during his career, will be buried at the Jeruk Purut cemetery after Friday prayer.
